Permit Parking Information

Permits are sold at East Orange City Hall (Licensing Department) from 8:30am–4:15pm. The office is located on the 1st floor.  Please call (973) 266-5125.  Permit Parking is from (8:00pm to 8:00am Only) in specified Lots.   All other Lots you may park all day.  For a list of lot locations and specifications please click here . 

 

The cost for a Lot permit is $40.00 per month.

 

1. Parking permits shall be used by only the original applicant and shall not be loaned to, transferred to, used by or sent in care of another individual.

 

2. Parking Permit Decals must be displayed on the lower left rear window at all times for the current month.  If the current month Decal is not displayed on the lower left rear window for the vehicle for which it was purchased, the vehicle may be ticketed and or towed at the vehicle owner’s expense.  Contact Velez Towing (973) 266-9114 if you think your vehicle may have been towed from one of our lots.

 

3. Parking permits are valid only for the month and year specified on the permit.

 

4. Motor vehicles must park between lines in designated parking stalls only.

 

5. Permit holders wishing to list a new vehicle for permit use must provide the Licensing Department a photocopy of the registration for the vehicle, confirming that it is registered to the permit holder or to a spouse and/or dependent children living in the same household.

 

6. A parking permit is valid only in the lot for which it is specifically designated.

 

7. Parking permits are valid only for vehicles properly registered with the Authority.

 

8. Permit holders must report any changes of address, vehicle registration, and license plate number to the Licensing Department immediately to avoid being towed, incurring violations and jeopardizing permit parking privileges, and shall cooperate with the Licensing Department in keeping records up to date.

 

9. Leased or company vehicles may be registered only if supporting documentation is presented to the Licensing Department verifying that the vehicle is specifically assigned for the permit holder's use.

 

10. Permit holders may use parking permits in borrowed or rental vehicles for a maximum of two (2) weeks, provided that the temporary vehicle is registered with the Licensing Department in advance. The parking permit must be displayed at all times in the temporary vehicle.
